Mature Skin Makeup Tips
There are no hard and fast rules for makeup.
Do what makes you feel good.
Do what makes you confident.
Do what brings your soul to life!!
These are a few tips that I like to share.
But, they are just tips!!
Mature Skin Tips:
SKIN CARE - if you have a skin care regimen that you love, DO IT! Don't switch it up just because someone tells you to! I definitely research skin care and have discovered what I love for my own skin. I do incorporate new or different products as I need it!
USE PRIMER - Please use primer! It smooths away fine lines and pores by blurring them. We have two different primers: Blur & Strobe. I prefer the Blur Primer because I like the matte finish. The Strobe is great if you like the glowy/dewy finish!
CUSTOMIZE THE COVERAGE TO YOUR SKIN - Heavy, thick formulas will accentuate your fine lines and wrinkles. When skin ages, it gets thinner. A heavy foundation application can really allow that to show. The right foundation, concealer, and powder for your skin will add coverage while also blurring lines.
USE HYDRATING FOUNDATIONS - Hydrating, moisturizing, luminous is all good! Mature skin tends to be more dry and needs max hydration. Yellow tones are also helpful. It gives our skin a warmer appearance, and that can look younger. Dewy finish foundations can be great.
POWDER WITH CAUTION - Be careful where, and how much, powder you use! We don't want to use drying powder. I LOVE my BB Powder. It sets, while also moisturizing my skin!!! Focus on your t-zone with powder.
CHOOSE THE RIGHT TOOLS - Many experts will give you specific direction with tools that you use to apply your makeup. I don't. I like several different tools for different applications. Sponges can offer an even finish, but so can brushes. It all depends on HOW you use them. I prefer applying concealer with my ring fingers. And I prefer applying lip products with the applicator they come with! So, I don't think there is one perfect tool for everything. Just use what you are most comfortable with and confident in using! Also, make sure you are blotting in your makeup (no swiping or large brush strokes. Small, pulse movements are perfect!)
CONCEALER: THE LIGHTER, THE BETTER - Mature skin tends to have more pronounced crow's feet, dark circles, dark spots, etc. Avoid thick and drying concealers!! Go light!! Our skin is thinner under our eyes! Find a thin, highly pigmented, light concealer for that area and just a tiny bit goes a long way!
CHOOSE YOUR HIGHLIGHTER WISELY - Glimmer and shimmer are not the best friends of mature skin. They are super fun - yes! Just know this: anything with sparkle acts as a microscope right to that area and gets stuck in fine lines and wrinkles!! Highlighter is awesome. I use it! But, avoid all the glitter and shimmer in those areas that are showing proof of your life!
